Click for Camp Kandu Video!

Camp Kandu, a camp that is held twice a year at the Twin Lakes Conference Center in Florence, Mississippi, offers children with diabetes, as well as their parents, friends and siblings, the opportunity to have fun while learning to take charge of diabetes. The camp is free for children with diabetes and is open to any child from ages 3 - 12.

Older "alumni" campers "pay it forward" by becoming counselors for the younger children.  A touching arrangement since these teens have a unique understanding of the challenges faced by the newly diagnosed.

Volunteer nurses are with each group of children, and a great time is had by the kids while the parents are in class learning how to better care for their children.

Through the generosity of others, the Diabetes Foundation of Mississippi is able to send children with diabetes to Camp Kandu as well as offer scholarships to others.

Keep Cool
And your supplies too

Nothing wastes money faster than cooking your meter and strips in the car.  When travelling, keep insulin, meters and strips in a little cooler with, but not touching a freezer pack. Don't freeze the insulin!
